Step 1: Check Your Eligibility (5 Minutes)

Your Home Must:

• Be built and occupied before 2011 – newer homes don't qualify
• Be in the Republic of Ireland – Northern Ireland has separate schemes

Applications are submitted through the SEAI online portal.

Step 5: Wait for Approval (3-6 Weeks)

SEAI reviews your application and checks everything is in order.

You'll Receive:

• Email confirmation when your application is received
• Request for additional information (if needed)

Step 6: Complete the Works (8 Months Maximum)

Once approved, you have 8 months to complete the work and submit your claim.

During Installation:

• Keep all invoices and receipts

• Pay your contractor in full (grants are reimbursed afterwards)

Step 7: Get Your Post-Works BER (1-2 Weeks)

After installation, a BER assessor must return to verify the improvement.

This confirms:

• Work was completed as specified
• Your home's energy rating has improved
• Grant money was spent correctly

Most contractors arrange this as part of the project. Ask your contractor to confirm.

Step 8: Submit Your Grant Claim (30 Minutes)

Log back into the SEAI portal to submit your claim.
